Is it for you?
Freestyle Combat Martial Arts Melbourne, is for those interested in what works, rather than what looks pretty. At Freestyle Combat Martial Arts, we have no interest in competition as Mick believes it creates bad habits for reality based self defence, instead we concentrate on developing our members personal defensive skills.
Freestyle Combat Martial Arts, is a family oriented self defence system designed for both sexes and all ages. Freestyle Combat Martial Arts also caters for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Classes are taught in a friendly relaxed atmosphere and are designed for you and your family to have fun in a very safe training environment. All our instructors hold at least a level 1 first aid qualification and nationally recognised coaching accreditation. Freestyle Combat Martial Arts is a family oriented system and our classes are designed for you to have fun in a very safe, friendly training environment.
Freestyle Combat is a fun activity for all the family, giving you and your children the tools they need to reach goals in everyday life.
Martial Arts Goals
Our primary goal is to develop self defence confidence, tolerance, discipline and compassion as well as a strong body. This is done in a friendly, relaxed training atmosphere supervised by instructors who understand the importance of personal attention and positive encouragement.
Striking and kicking skills are developed on kick shields and focus mitts, allowing for development of effective skills and power with no risk of injury. In short, Freestyle Combat is extremely practical, a great all-round exercise for a healthy body, great for coordination, uncomplicated & easy to learn, and suitable for people of all ages and either gender.
Self defence is important as society becomes more complex. We read and hear daily accounts of violence and infringements of social morality. It is therefore necessary for everyone to learn to protect themselves and their loved ones. At Freestyle Combat this is one of our main objectives; for our members to understand that not only the physical but also the psychological side of personal protection.
Freestyle Combat incorporates the Filipino system of Kali. This unique system has the added benefit of training the right & left hemispheres of the brain to work together for coordination in the drills and an added dexterity of motion, which is quite hard to develop in traditional styles.
Freestyle Combat Martial Arts Grading
In the advanced belt levels students also learn blends of a number for effective styles. The combination of not only the physical techniques but also the underlying concepts and principals of Karate, Kali, Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Silat, Jeet Kune Do Gung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and many others makes Freestyle Combat not only a unique and effective martial art but also one of the more enjoyable systems to learn and apply.
As stated earlier, Freestyle Combat is first and foremost a system for personal development and protection, it is a truly modern Martial Arts system, incorporating concepts and principles blended together to form a superior self defence system, which is world class and Australian.
